Yes, it does-- but it's easy to miss if you tend to play quickly, because (I think?) if you start making your moves right when that message comes up, it either disappears or can get covered up (I forget which).

In short, you really need to pay attention to the patrons and how your opponent is using them, otherwise you can get a sudden and unpleasant surprise when the match abruptly ends due to a patron win by your opponent.

Keep an eye out for cards that let a player call on the patrons an additional time during a turn. Try to buy them yourself if you can, but if you can't make good use of them at the time and don't particularly want to "waste" your coin on them, then look for other ways to remove them from the Tavern so your opponent can't buy them.

And pay attention to how each patron is called upon-- that is, what requirements must be met in order to call upon it-- because some are very easy to call upon whereas others are not, hence you wouldn't want to leave two easy-to-call-upon patrons open for your opponent to flip in a single turn if they're able to call on two patrons. For instance, the screenshot shows that Pelin was one of the patrons in the match, so if the opponent had flipped it earlier in the match then it would have been a good idea to try to flip it in your favor if the opportunity arose, since your opponent might not be able to flip it back to their favor again so easily. And the Druid patron can be a bad one to let your opponent flip because of the passive bonus it gives if the player can get a 4-card Druid combo during a turn. On the other hand, if the opponent had flipped Crow earlier in the game, it's smart to leave it flipped so your opponent can't use it again.
