This is the official discussion thread for, "Save on 30-Day ESO Plus Memberships during the April 2025 Sale"

"Enjoy a 50% discount on 30-day ESO Plus™ memberships and get access to the Craft Bag, game packs, and more."

UPDATE April, 21: We have updated this blog to indicate that the sale price for ESO Plus membership on Steam is only available for first-time ESO Plus users. So specifically, Steam players who have never had ESO Plus membership can access the sale at this time. We apologize for the confusion.

Hi, can you clarify whether or not this is available on PlayStation? No mention in the article and no sale option on the PS Store.

    Steam (PC/Mac)

All Steam players, including those with active memberships, can access the sale.

This is what I see though:
    g3t59g9608ge.png

It does show up for $7.49 when selecting a new subscription, but since I have had one in the past it directs me to that previous menu for $14.99. I'm kind of confused, and there are no refunds via steam for plus.

If you are getting it through the ESO account page, the discount only applies to those without an active membership. Each storefront has their own rules for how the discount applies, so please make sure to check the article for those specific rules.

PlayStation in most regions should be included in this. We are working through a few issues to get PS to populate correctly, so please make sure to go back and check to see if the sale is properly displaying.

It seems like you may be trying to change the sub through your Steam account page. In order for the discount to apply through steam, you need to go through the ESO Store Page and select the ESO+ membership from there. It should then display the discounted sub. If you are still encountering issues, please let us know and we can take it back to the team to investigate.

I always wonder why companies run promotions which alienate their existing paying base users. I'm sure it must be effective otherwise it wouldn't be run but it really loses good will.

For example lets hypothetically say my subscription auto-renewed today. I would now pay double price for the next months subscription compared to someone who had let their subscription elapse and then renewed it.

Wouldn't it be far better to give all active recurring subscriptions X number of free days too (or the difference in crowns)? Happy customers spend more.

If you select ESO+ from the ESO store page, it takes you to that same account subscription management page. That is how you reenable ESO+ subs that have been previously purchased. I am unsure of another way to enable it. It sounds like the sale is going of for awhile, but for the discount I would like to get a month and clear up my inventory.

Ideally, that would be great. The goal is never to intentionally alienate anyone. We are working in accordance to rules around subscriptions and the limitations those rules can bring.
    1. Platforms outside of us each have their own rules on how sales on subscriptions work. So that is outside of our control.
    2. There are also tech limitations for things like free days that would cause a bigger issue for current subscribers, so we need to be careful about how sales get rolled out. And that only gets more complicated different platform rules. Our goal is to make sure we are creating value for as many folks as we can, without causing issues for anyone who is an existing subscriber.
All that being said, this is the first time we are doing and ESO+ sale, so we will take this feedback to see if any changes can be made for future iterations.

Historically, the ESO Community has received an ESO+ Free Trial in January, which we have not yet this year.

Is the sale on ESO+ what is now replacing the ESO+ Free Trials that we traditionally got 2-3 times a year?

But on steam I see this:

It's way cheaper on Steam. But I never paid the ESO Plus from Steam, I always did that from my account and I still have a few days left. So, is it safe to add this promotion from Steam and later continue using the payments from the ESO account?

After reading the discussion above, I just decided to cancel my membership, so I would get the new price on sale for one month. But it didn't work also.

Okay, we got some clarification. You cannot be an active member. Currently, even if you cancel your sub, your current sub is still active for the duration of the previous subscription. So the system still sees you as active, even if your sub is cancelled.

So do not cancel your sub to try and claim the discounted rate. The system still sees your subscription as active.

This is dissapointing for your current eso+ members. Why not at least give us a voucher code or something so that we can get 2 months for the price of one. Or whatever else that would work with your subsribe system and current customers? On top of that no free play event that we usually get with the Anniversary.

Can't you fool the system by cancelling on the ESO site and then for those who have the game also on Steam subscribe there. Do you get +30 days on your cancelled subscription when it ends if you subscribe from Steam?

Quite baffling how existing ESO.com subscribers got shut out of such a discount. They make you the most money without the 30 percent Steam cut. Especially after the storm of complaints about the value of ESO+ since the premium pass reveal.

For the time being, I would not advise that. I'm sure it would just pause your subscription on the ESO account side while the Steam took over, but I don't want it to cause any account issues for you this late in the day.

Well if you cancel your ESO+ subscription, you still have ESO+ till the date your old subscription was due to run out, so the system knows you already have ESO+.

But my two alt accounts appreciate the help holding all the stuff they have accumulated during this event, I signed them up!

While it’s great to see offers like this being made available, it's honestly a bit disappointing that active subscribers are completely excluded. ZOS drops this "insane" 50% discount on ESO Plus, the first time ever, and then goes:
“Hey, here’s an awesome deal we’ve never done before! …But wait, you’re already a loyal paying subscriber? Nah, not for you. Move along.”

If you’re on Steam, cool—you get the discount even if you're subbed. But the rest? Nope. Nothing. Apparently, being a consistent supporter means you’re less deserving of a deal than someone who’s never paid a cent for ESO Plus.

It feels like loyal players who have been consistently supporting the game through ongoing memberships are being penalized, while only non-members benefit from the discount. I think many of us would appreciate if long-time supporters were shown a bit more love during these promotions—whether through loyalty discounts, extra perks, or at the very least, equal access to these kinds of sales.

Loyalty shouldn’t mean getting left out.

    You know the drill.

***insert technical limitation reason here***

It is the same at my job. Marketing comes up with all these kind of new things that have to launch within a week while the backend totally doesn't support it. But in our case IT can crunch to make it work because the customer is king.

The best solution here would be that active subscribers get 15 day free (since it is 50 percent off).

Should have done something like 50% off cost of membership if a new 30-day subscriber and 50% more crowns (2475 instead of 1650) at next renewal if an existing 30 day subscriber. Or a couple of free crown crates for existing customers. There are definitely ways to give existing members a bonus if you are opposed to reduced monthly cash flow.

Existing ESO+ subscribers are getting excluded from the deal, and honestly that's unfair for these players who are actively supporting development. They should get 15 extra days of ESO+.

Usually the ESO+ trial appeared on the day, when the big chapter reveal happened. As there wasn't a reveal in January, they have put the trial a month earlier, in December.

So it's still possible to have still 2 trials per year. Maybe in 1 or 2 month and the 2nd end of the year again.

But that's just assumptions of course. A lot of new things this year, so could be they abandoned free trials completely too.
