What happened with the Southern Cyrodiil?

I was looking at the map of Cyrodiil with a friend of mine, and he noticed something very curious... Southern Cyrodiil has become... Flat?

Look at this comparison:

    Isn't that obvious? It's being terraformed by aliens in preparation of an invasion to end the Three Banners war...
      PAWS (Positively Against Wrip-off Stuff) - Say No to Crown Crates!. Outfit slots not being accountwide is ridiculous given their price. PC EU/PC NA roleplayer and solo PvE quester

      If I'm not mistaken, that area lies directly between the eastern and western Elsweyr gates, on the AD side. I'd be interested in knowing if similar topographical changes have been made in areas between the gates of other factions. Time to do some comparing.

      Does it look like a quest-sized area for an upcoming quest? Just large enough for a field and a fort or two, that kind of thing.

      Also weird that this was moved to the Lore section. What lore does this affect??

      Well, I thought that was weird too. The post objectively has nothing about lore in it... I mean, it's a visual change to the game map... I don't think that qualifies as lore

      And I also looked for another similar change on the map and couldn't find it.

      probably just a bug, but they prefere to hide it under lore
