What is the best way to farm treasure maps?

How do we most efficiently farm treasure maps?

I know they come from "containers", but is there any data on which type of containers drop treasure maps the most?

I specifically want Summerset treasure maps for the book furnishing that drops from them, but I don't think there's a way to try to get more of one type of treasure map. So any information on how to obtain piles of treasure maps helps.




I used bunches of Summerset treasure maps in search of the book furnishing. Only to find out that we needed to have read certain lorebooks first
I'm giving it another shot this upcoming event, but I'm all out of Summerset treasure maps. Any help is appreciated.

I haven't looked to see how expensive it is, maybe it would be more easy to farm gold and buy them if you're looking for specific maps?

I appreciate the reply, but prices have already skyrocketed since the announcement.

I'd prefer to farm them myself.

Update:

I went on an orc nightblade with Ring of the Wild Hunt and jailbreaker set.

Just over half and hour of nothing but zooming to every listing I saw on TTC for Summerset treasure maps.

Everything has been bought out except for the ridiculous prices:






It would help if ESO had a universal trader/retainer/auction house. Alas, my free time to play is almost over... and I haven't been able to buy a single treasure map.

What's the book furnishing?

I get treasure maps mostly from thieves' troves. Often two at a time.

you can buy treasure maps for specific zones with archive fortunes, the selected zone changes weekly, and its only 2000 fortunes per map

It's a unique opened book. Bound on pickup. A rare chance drop from Summerset treasure maps.

And you must have read the lore book out in the world on that specific character previous to opening the treasure map chest.
